Meet Actor/Writer Andrew McCarthy October 3rd Reception at Rose Tattoo Café at 5:45 pm
 

Philadelphia, PA –For the last decade, Andrew McCarthy has done much more than woo an entire generation with his good looks and in memorable roles in coming-of-age films (Pretty in Pink, Class) alongside other ‘Brat-Packers’ Molly Ringwald, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez and Demi Moore. He has been building a formidable reputation as a travel writer, winning four North American Journalist Awards, including the Grand Prize in 2011. McCarthy recently received his fourth Lowell Thomas Award from the Society of American Travel Writers for his article, "The Cycle of Life" which appeared in National Geographic Traveler.

McCarthy will be discussing his new travel memoir, “The Longest Way Home” in conversation with WHYY’s Patrick Stoner (Flicks, Quick Pics) on Wednesday, October 3, 7:30 PM at The Free Library of Philadelphia, 1901 Vine Street, Philadelphia. The event is free and open to the public.

To rendezvous with McCarthy and Stoner over a glass of wine and hors d’oeuvres, meet on Wednesday, October 3, 5:45 pm at Rose Tattoo Café, 1847 Callowhill Street, Philadelphia. Tickets must be purchased in advance ($35, or $30 for members of the Geographical Society, WHYY or The Free Library of Philadelphia.)
