Drug Sweep in Pottstown Nabs Alleged Driver in Phoenixville Shooting

Garrett Sterner will face charges of drug possession.

Garrett Sterner can’t seem to stay out of trouble.

Sterner, 19, the alleged driver of the car a Phoenixville teen was shot in near the Pennsylvania House Hotel on May 8, was arrested in Pottstown on Tuesday in a joint Pottstown Police-Montgomery County Sheriff's Department drug bust, The Mercury is reporting.

The sweep yielded two pounds of marijuana, 89 grams of cocaine, and 225 pills of oxycodone–a street value of $15,600–plus $11,000 in cash and a Hummer.

Sterner was one of 22 arrested, and was charged drug possession with the intent to use and deliver.

The arrests were announced by the Montgomery County District Attorney's office in a June 6 press release.

It was the latest in a series of unfortunate turns for the two suspects in the May shooting of James “Mack” Brown. The alleged shooter in the case, Shawn Nafeese Duell, was removed from court last week after a profane outburst during testimony.

Duell, in addition to the House Hotel charges, is on trial for shooting a man and his mother in Pottstown on April 15.

Sterner is still facing mutiple charges stemming from his role in the May 8 shooting.
