Did you know, for just a hair over $200 per month, you could OWN property in Pottstown? According to MortgageCalculator.org, those with fair credit, that could obtain a five percent interest loan, over a 30-year, fixed rate mortgage could pay zero PMI and have a monthly mortgage payment (on a $30,000 loan) for just $216.05.
That total even takes into account the Pottstown 2.2 percent property tax, based on current CityData.com listings.

What a fantastic, thoughtful article. Why would anyone rent in P.town at 3, 4, even 5 X's, (and more), the monthly output if they could qualify for their own home. Make a landlord rich or invest in your own home!!! THANKS FOR THIS INFORMATION.

I read the article and called 2 realtors of these properties. Fix up cost is estimated at $20,000 for one and $15,000 for the other. Where do I come up with the fix up money after I get the mortgage?

If anyone feels they can buy a house in Pottstown for $40k and do no work they are sadly mistaken. These homes all need work to pass codes inspection. If these were good deals they would have been bought by investors not sit on the market for 3- 6 months.

There are only 5 houses under $40,000. One realtor told me in the entire ghetto near High Street the houses are worth $30,000 and no one will buy them. Looks like property values are slowly increasing everywhere except Pottstown.

Only 15% of the housing vouchers are in Pottstown. So Goldencockroach, your entire arguement that the leaders of Montgomery County are dumping people into Pottstown is untrue, what is the next lie you will tell the people of Pottstown.
Since there are only 20 blighted homes identified a year in Pottstown, this is a very minor issue
How about how houses in the High Street area are not selling at $20,000.
How about how your lawsuit is doing?
How about your friends no longer working for the Borough and why?
How about the poor attendence of landlords at the upcoming landlord event?
How about how the landlords win everytime and you have made no progress in 2 years?
