Man Held in Lower Pottsgrove Burglaries
Police say Pottstown man pawned loot following break-ins
A Pottstown man has been charged in two residential burglaries in Lower Pottsgrove Township, police said Friday.
Christopher Sautter, 25, was arrested August 29 after police recovered evidence they said connected him to a burglary the previous day at a Valley Lane home. In that incident, the resident of the home returned to their residence at about 8:15 a.m. and found a man inside the home. The man reportedly fled the home in a silver Hyundai Elantra. He had stolen "various items of jewelry" from the bedroom, police said.
Police also connected Sautter with an August 23 burglary on Lynn Drive. The resident of that home found their front door unlocked upon returning to their home that afternoon but didn't notice until the following day that someone had rummaged through jewelry boxes in one of the home's bedrooms. Police believe the perpetrator using an overturned trash can to climb through an unlocked rear window. "Various pieces of jewelry and coins" were taken from the home, police said.
Police said Sautter was pawning stolen items from the homes at an unidentified local merchant. He is being held at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash bail pending a preliminary hearing on September 7.
