Near Miss Nor'easter As Seen From Space

Our area didn't receive much in the way of wintery precipitation, but a NASA satellite shows heavy snowfall on Sandy-affected areas.

This Nov. 9 NASA satellite image shows snow blanketing large sections of New Jersey, Long Island, and Connecticut following last week's nor'easter, which narrowly missed the western suburbs of Philadelphia.

Last week's nor'easter was a near miss for Montgomery County and most of the western suburbs, but some areas of New Jersey and New York received more than eight inches of snow, with some areas reporting as much of a foot of accumulation.

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite captured this natural-color view of the region last Friday, November 9.
