News Next Door: Westboro Baptists Target 4 Lehigh Valley Churches

The controversial group plans to visit the area on Jan. 20, according to a press release.

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church said in a recent press release that they will soon be protesting at four Allentown-area churches.

According to Bethlehem Patch, the protesters say they will arrive on Jan. 20 in order to target "whorehouses masquerading as churches" and lists the following times and locations:

  • 8:30 to 9 a.m.: St Paul's Anglican, 2510 Livingston St.
  • 9:05 to 9:30 a.m.: Asbury Church, 1533 Springhouse Road
  • 9:50 to 10 a.m.: Cathedral of St. Catharine, 210 N. 18th St.
  • 10:30 to 11 a.m.: First Baptist Church, 1808 N. 19th St.

all in the Allentown area.

The group has topped the news recently as an online petition to classify Westboro as a hate group and revoke its federal tax-exempt status has gained close to 74,000 signatures.

Freedom FROM religion, what the 1st admendment meant to say, but FEAR of religion prevented saying it. Why is this group of HATE still alive,no bombers here?
Pushing GOOD values generates HATE values by logic. Most bombers are religious?

You know you've done something worthwhile in your life when Westboro Baptist boycots you.....Concerning the whole " separation of Church and State " issue, that was written to gaurentee the state, meaning our government, could not dictate which religion you followed. It has absolutely nothing to do with churches being tax exempt.

Tax exempt religion, NO! Thats the problem, along with religion getting into "other" areas.

Westboro Church is doing fine on its anti hero policy, they deserve tax exemption, in particular their taxes should not go towards military purpose, they are committed by conscience on military objectives, as for the stance on gays, if someone wants to put their genitals somewhere that may sound peculiar to some, let them do it, I know some Mothers that have smothered their boys with love and no Father was there to put a male input in on child rearing, consequently these guys now grown up are now gay, they have had to much of Mother or smother love, and just do seem to want to do the thing with the girls, from my point of view all the more to go around for the Men.
