A Pottstown man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly locked his mother in her basement following an argument about finances.

According to court records, Bradley Roebuck, 23, is charged with false imprisonment, simple assault - attempt by menace, and recklessly endangering another person, in connection with a domestic incident that occurred during the afternoon of December 5.

Records indicate that police were called to the home around 2 p.m., after receiving a 9-1-1 call from a woman reporting a problem with her son. Upon police arrival, the woman stated that her son was upset about not being able to find a job, as well as having no money. The woman then stated that her son kicked and hit things, causing damage throughout the house before he made his way to the basement, the records state.

Court records state that the woman followed her son down the stairs to the basement, where he allegedly pushed her aside, ran up the stairs, and locked the door. After screaming for her son to open the door for roughly 20 minutes, the women finally freed herself by knocking the door off its hinges, the records state.

Roebuck allegedly confessed to locking his mother in the basement following an argument, and police later found the basement door had been placed along the wall next to the entrance.
