These millionaire candidates just don't understand what it's like for seniors living on limited incomes face. And I'm still waiting for relief to "trickle down" from the last millionaire tax break!

Newt, what special tax-break did they get that you did not? Your social security payments do trickle down from worker's SSI taxes. Few aspire to poverty, yet we rally against those who are successful, as if they owe us something. If not for that human failing, the Democrat Party would never be in power.

2 million over 3 years? That would be a tragedy for the Romneys. The Obamas don't compare to the Romneys. Paul you are a dope, probably a lanlord.

Mitt Romney has made his choice and now the righteous indignation(faux)surfaces...why? Let each candidate stand on their own merit and then make an educated decision about who might be best for our country. Lots of time, energy and money has been spent to keep the American people divided and at each other's throats for political gain...darn shame...sit quietly and really listen before making your voting decision...check facts and listen.

Marybeth, that sounds like work. Much easier to react to the negative TV ads, which keep interrupting Jerry Springer. You know, 'He doesn't pay taxes,' and my favorite, 'In two weeks, he killed my wife with cancer.' Tens of millions were spent on these ads, so why waste them with fact checking?

Rich people spend money. They buy houses and do things to those houses. They put construction workers, electricians, and industrial supplies companies to work. they actually spend money. If you tax them more they can't spend more and therefore you put people out of work. It is common sense that those who have money spend it.

Finnick, please explain. The IRS tax rates don't reflect that. I understand that a 1% tax saving for someone paying little tax will mean less, absolute dollars saved compared to someone paying millions in taxes. What was the special 'millionaires' break? Not arguing with you, but I've yet to hear an explanation of why is was unfair.

To begin with I am an independent seriously thinking of voting for Romney, but this VP choose may change my mind. I feel this is the worst choose possible! I am a senior citizen and we better be worried about Ryan's proposed cut in Medicare!

More lies about Medicare; a little research (even if you just read Ryan's budget vs. the Obamacare Act) shows that Ryan's budget does not cut Medicare - but the Obamacare act does.. Most of the "savings" under Obamacare came from huge cuts in Medicare and Medicaid.

Doc, I hate to say it but we need to change the structure of Medicare and other programs. People are living longer and there is no way that this country can continue to support these programs without major change. That is why pensions no longer make sense. To continue along the same path that we are on would be unfair to future generations.

Paul Ryan's speech if you missed it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IB23M6EDEfk

'Amercian idea versus the welfare state'
'President Obama cannot run on his record'
'He has to create what we call a narrative'
'We now have government granted rights'
'a moment in our history where the next election will determine the fundamental nature of American democracy'

I especially appreciated the reference to America as a country founded on ideas . . . that rights come from God and Nature, NOT government. I am sure some of my "neighbors" will object to any Providential references.

Paul ryan, what great solid pick. He is a good person and cares about the usa's financail condition. If your worried about your welfare and other handouts- you need to look in the mirror because your whats destroying this country. Romney/ryan are winners who will get folks back to work, and stop scaring businesses from investing in our future like the inept obama

Downtowner, can you really be that misinformed and so steeped in your own jealousy and hatred? Jefferson, Roosevelt and Franklin were all very rich men; what makes being a non-rich person a defining quality of someone's character?; and Obama has already redefined the economics in our country to one of government bailouts, take-overs and handouts.

"Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's goods." That is what separates R's from D's. Those D's (some of the richest on the planet) can't keep their eyes off their neighbor's goods. We should aspire to be poor, diseased, and non-white or Asian? Is that it, Downtowner? Where it not for envy, the Democrat Party would not exist.

John Q., Josephine is 100% correct. If business gets taxed more two things happen. First, the hire less people because rather than pay another salary you have to save that salary to pay taxes. secondly, if a business does pay more in taxes how do you think the delta is made up? it is passed through to the consumer. you need to get a clue.

Not to do with the announcement of the VP, but for the PV Patch folks. You're overusing your "Breaking News" announcements. This was not something that needed to be announced this way in a local news source. If you want to keep me as a reader, ease up on the Breaking News announcements. As a headline on my email, I get no further details and don't need your emails more than once a day as a regular event. Keep Breaking News for bank robbers on the run or roads or schools closed for power outages/trees down. Leave national news for regular stories so I respect your journalistic skills. A VP announcement is not Breaking News for PV Valley. It's just plain news for the regular email. Thanks.

Lazy K.....u have no idea who I am but I have paid more in in taxes in the first half of this year than you have likely paid in the last 15 years combined. I wish I was joking too. I am one of the 1% and I am disgusted with those who think I am the enemy because I work hard. Lazy K, you only wish you had my life and work ethic. Then again you probably don't care since my tax dollars pay for you to buy your cigarettes and fast food .
