Buy a lottery calendar in Pottstown and you could win up to $1,000, and help fund next year’s Fourth of July celebration.

The Mercury reports that Pottstown Fourth of July Committee will sell the lottery calendars for $30 each, with 365 chances to win cash prizes from $30 to $1,000.

If your calendar’s unique three-digit number, ranging from 000 to 999, matches a number drawn during the 7 p.m. Pennsylvania Lottery, you’ll receive a check in the mail. Daily prizes are between $30 and $40, but 16 special bonus prizes will be awarded for $50 to $1,000.

Proceeds from the sale of the calendar benefit Pottstown’s Independence Day celebrations, including fireworks and parade, all of which are entirely community-funded. The event also incurs some less obvious expenses, including insurance and police and fire police involvement.
