Your Guide To The Fourth Of July
Here's Pottstown Patch's guide to making the most of your holiday:
Sunday, July 3:
Festivities begin at 2 p.m. Sunday with the craft show at field #2. The Field of Flags program at the World War II memorial begins at 5 p.m., and will be open to the public at 6 p.m.
Proud parents looking to enter their child in the baby contest can do so at the Parks and Recreation tent at field #2 beginning at 5:15 p.m. Age categories range from 0-6 months to 36 months. The baby judging begins at 6 p.m.
Black Hills Band will take the main stage at 7:30 for their opening set. The band bills itself as a traditional country band, playing tunes by artists such as Waylon Jennings and Gary Allan. Black Hills Band will play a second set on the main stage at 8:45.
Taking over the stage between shows will be the crowning of the Homecoming Queen at 8:20 p.m. and the car rally and soap box derby winners.
Closing Sunday's events will be the Hot Air Balloon Glow at 9 p.m. on field #2.
Monday, July 4:
While the parade begins on High Street at 10:15 a.m., Monday's events start even earlier at the Hill School. The Preservation Pottstown 25th Annual 5k run kicks off at 8 a.m.
If racing on foot is not exciting enough, riders take to the track at Trilogy BMX Park at 12:30 p.m. for the 7th Annual American Eagle race. Riders can register beginning at 11 a.m., with the entry fee being $10 for points and $15 for points and a trophy. The park will also host a 16-29 open race and a 30 and over open race.
The Pottstown Little League All Star Games will be held on field #3 at Memorial Park. The National League plays ball at noon, while the American League begins at 2 p.m. T-ballers will tee off at 4 p.m.
Country music again hits the main stage when Four Faces West holds court at 3. "PA's high energy country band" is sponsored by Trilogy Park.
Rubber Duckies will choke Manatawny Creek when the Rotary releases them at 4 p.m.
The 27th Annual Hot Air Balloon Extravaganza begins at 6 p.m. at field #2, with the balloons taking flight a half hour later.
The Holt Twins are the closing musical act. Playing classic rock and active since they were 14 years old, the Berks County group plays the main stage at 6 p.m.
What would the Fourth be without fireworks? The main event begins at 10 p.m.
