A PECO Record: More Than 620,000 Without Power
Trees, wires and branches are down throughout the region.
More than 623,000 PECO customers were without power as of 1 p.m., and that number was only expected to climb as the day wore on.
That number is a PECO record: This is the most customers who have been without power ever in a winter storm, The Philadelphia Inquirer said.
The record for customers without power for any reason was 850,000 during Superstorm Sandy.
The distinction didn't make those who have been without power for nearly 12 hours feel any better.
PECO assured customers that crews continue to work to restore power, but a number of people have emailed Patch to say that they were told it could be several days before power is restored.
