Major Nor'easter Poised to Strike

We'll see another 8 to 10 inches of snow and up to a tenth of an inch of ice on Wednesday and Thursday.

In a winter when we’ve lost track of snowstorms, we’re about to get another one, and it will be a doozy.

The National Weather Service is tracking what it calls a major Nor’easter that will hit Wednesday night and continue through Thursday.

The storm will move up the I-95 corridor, and snowfall and ice accumulation will be heaviest near the highway.

Our area will see 8 to 10 inches of snow and up to a tenth of an inch of ice due to freezing rain.

The snowfall will start Wednesday, likely late enough that it won’t impact Wednesday evening commutes, the National Weather Service said. It will continue snowing well into Thursday, the NWS said.

The freezing rain will make travel extremely difficult, the NWS said. The storm will likely have a major impact on both Thursday morning and evening commutes.

This storm comes on the heels of Sunday night's storm and last week's devastating ice storm, from which the region still has not fully recovered.
