More Than 400,000 Still Without Power

PECO says many will be without power through Sunday.

More than 400,000 people in the region still are without power, and many will remain without power through the weekend.

As of 1 p.m. Thursday, about 410,000 customers were without power, PECO said, down from a high of more than 623,000 Wednesday evening.

The current outages break down like this, according to PECO:

  • Bucks County = 103,000
  • Chester County = 122,000
  • Delaware County = 42,000
  • Montgomery County = 130,000
  • Philadelphia County = 9,300
Early Thursday morning, some communities were 100 percent without power, PECO said.

In a notice to customers on its website, PECO wrote that it hoped to restore power to a majority of its customers by Friday night, but warned that many will be without power through Sunday.

PECO is not letting customers know which restoration group they are in. Calling the company's customer service number yields an automated message acknowledging the power outage, but telling customers that no timeline for restoration is available.

PECO has brought in outside contractors, it said, and more than 3,500 people are working to restore service.

You can report an outage to PECO by calling 1-800-841-4141.
