About: Located in the Fort Washington section of Whitemarsh Township, Fort Washington State Park offers an opening to nature for both the causal and more serious outdoorsman. The park offers softball fields, bird watching, fishing, 3.5 miles of hiking trails, dog walking areas and a disc colg course. The park is also home to a number of picnic areas as well as an organized group tent area for campers.

About: Spring is prime time to explore the 25 landscaped acres of the Reading Arboretum. The garden features 65 specimens of trees, shrubs and flowering plants gathered from all over the world. Winding pathways lead visitors through the arboretum and footbridges crisscross scenic Wyomissing Creek, making this one of the most popular destinations in Berks County. The arboretum's Spring Plant Sale will be held rain or shine from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 21. The event will feature plants and books for sale and live music. Master gardeners will be on hand to answer questions.
