"Given our performance and the difficult economic environment, especially for big-ticket items, we intend to implement a series of actions to reduce on-going expenses, adjust our asset base, and accelerate the transformation of our business model," the company said at that time.

The news left many shoppers wondering whether the mall would survive.

North Coventry Township manager Kevin Hennessey on Tuesday said the mall could see some restructure, but he's been given no indication the mall would close.

"There's been no application ... no plans to bulldoze any mall," Hennessey said adding he spoke briefly with the company that manages the mall about the closing of Sears and possible changes including some demolition. "The mall is not going away by any stretch of the imagination."

The mall is supervised by Stoltz Management Company, headquartered in Bala Cynwyd. Officials at the company on Tuesday were unavailable for comment, a receptionist at the business said.

According to the company's website, Stoltz owns, develops, operates and manages retail, office, industrial and multi-family properties across the U.S.
