The Wildcats of Coventry Youth Football traveled to Upper Perkiomen this past Sunday to take on the Upper Perk Mohawks in a ICFL regular season match up.
The Coventry 3rd Grade Team started the day with a narrow 15-12 victory, notching their first win of the season. The offensive line was led by Eddie Mitchell, Tony Villarosa, Kyle O'Connor and Grayson Kurth. The leading rusher was Jason Williams with over 100 yards and a touchdown. Gio Nihart had several long runs along with Jake Bolyn and his touchdown. The defense has several big plays from Joey Calamaro and Jameson Jenkins. All in all it was a great team effort.
The Wildcats 5th grade team scored 7 touchdowns on Sunday to remain undefeated with a route of Upper Perkiomen in Red Hill. Ty Livers lead Coventry with 120 yards and 3 touchdowns, one of 70 yards. Isaac White had 2 touchdowns. Champ Doyle had a 52 yard touchdown run and Jordan Frey had a punt return for a touchdown. The Wildcats defense allowed Upper Perkiomen 3 touchdowns, but the defense played strong. All players played a key role in the win with everyone getting plenty of playing time.
The final game of the day pitted the 2 -0 Wildcat 7th grade team against the 3-0 Upper Perk 7th grade team. In a hard fought contest the Mohawks came out on top 26 - 9. The wildcat offense was led by Manny Clark with a 30 yard touchdown run, Sean Praweckyj added the extra point as well as Ryan Cusic who had 3 catches and threw 2 key blocks. Dylan Brandon also had a solid game adding 2 catches . Defensively, the wildcats standouts were Richie Hartzel, Tucker Pippen (tackle for a safety) and Praweckyj who added a late interception to his offensive production.
The Cats continue their season this weekend at OJR High School stadium on Sunday 10/7. The games begin at 12:30 with the 3rd grade team taking on Pottsgrove, the 5th grade team hosts Perk Valley and the final game of the day has the 7th grade team hosting Pottsgrove, admission is free.
