A winter storm featuring wind gusts up to fifty miles per hour is expected to begin depositing up to five inches of snow on the area beginning Wednesday afternoon.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory and a wind advisory for all of Montgomery County. Light rain and snow that arrives Wednesday morning is expected to intensify in the form of snow during the afternoon hours as temperatures remain in the mid-to-upper 30s.
Phillyweather.net expects most of the precipitation this afternoon, when winds are forecast to be strongest, to take the form of "wetter, denser snow."
The precipitation may switch to rain tonight before temperatures drop near freezing during the overnight hours.
Phillyweather.net projected in a forecast map on Wednesday morning that snowfall totals could range from as little as one inch around Pottstown and Pennsburg, in the western end of the county, to five inches in Horsham, Abington, and other eastern areas.
