12 Year Old Ethan Bortnick Live in Concert: The Power of Music

Harrisburg, PA -- Ethan Bortnick, the youngest performer ever to headline his own international concert tour will appear on Harrisburg, PA, PBS Station WITF at 2 p.m. March 2, 12:30 p.m., March 8, and 4 p.m. March 9.

The captivating new family music special Ethan Bortnick Live in Concert: The Power of Music features the amazing 12-year-old composer, pianist, and entertainer, accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra, a four-piece band and the 120-member Kids Choir, in a program that had the live audience dancing in the aisles! 

The young musical sensation named one of Oprah’s “All Time Smartest, Most Talented Kids,” is joined by special guests Damian McGinty of Glee and Celtic Thunder and Grammy-nominated vocalist Jane Monheit in a moving 90 minute special that highlights Ethan’s belief that music can emotionally connect people, and ultimately, change the world.

“I had the pleasure of meeting Ethan when he was 7 years old at a fundraiser for war refugees where Ethan raised thousands of dollars. I knew then I had met someone extraordinarily gifted,” says Anmar Sarafa, Executive Producer.  Sarafa, along with Gene Bortnick, Ethan’s father, are behind the concert and the upcoming 30-city concert tour.

The Harrisburg concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Whitaker Center, 225 Market Street, Harrisburg, PA. Ethan will be joined by Damian McGinty of Glee and Celtic Thunder and by the local group Central Dauphin East Middle School Choir. CDs and DVDs of the concert along with tickets to the live concert are available by making a pledge to PBS during the telecast.  Says Sarafa, “It’s only through the pledge contributions that PBS can continue to bring free, high quality programs that are suitable for families and viewers of all ages. At 12 years old Ethan Bortnick has moved audiences nationally and internationally as a pianist, composer, singer, entertainer, and a driven humanitarian, dedicated to combining his musical pursuits with his charity work.  Ethan has toured the world, connecting with diverse audiences in countries such as South Africa, Brazil, and Australia. In 2011, he made history as the youngest entertainer to headline a show in Las Vegas and recently, Ethan was certified a Guinness World Records title-holder as The World’s Youngest Solo Musician to Headline his own Tour.  Ethan has been featured on many national late night and morning television shows, including multiple appearances on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Good Morning America” and “Oprah,” where he was named one of Oprah’s “All Time Smartest, Most Talented Kids.” In 2010, Ethan made history as the youngest musician to create and host his own award-winning, nationally-televised concert special on PBS. Legend Quincy Jones has this to say of his song craft: “Ethan’s imagination and ability to create music from stories is unbelievable.”  Last year, Ethan completed shooting a full-length feature film called Anything Is Possible which was released in late 2013. He starred in the film, co-wrote all of the songs in the film and scored all the music.
