PACKED AND READY FOR SCHOOL

Thanks to the local Costco store, all Pottstown School District fourth graders have a backpack to carry their books and supplies to and from school.

For the second straight year, the Sanatoga Costco store has provided over 400 backpacks for Pottstown students.  Their representatives hand-delivered the backpacks and Franklin Elementary fourth grade students in Mrs. Nicole Ewing’s class represented the district by receiving the donation.

Karen Marine, one of the Costco representatives on hand to deliver the backpacks said, “We are happy to be able to play a small role in helping to ensure that students have the necessary materials to be able to take advantage of their educational opportunities.  It is rewarding to know that someday they will grow up to be the citizens of our community.”

Newly named Franklin Elementary Principal Mr. Kevin Downes was on hand during the ceremonies.  He said, “This is another excellent example of our community partners understanding the value and importance of education and doing their part to help us give our youngsters the foundation they need to be successful.”
