James I. March, 89, of Pottstown, died Tuesday as a result of complications related to injuries he sustained in a June 4 fire in his home.
In a Pottstown Mercury story, March is described as an extremely kind and generous man, with an especially soft spot in his heart for the less fortunate, including animals.
He "was the most giving person," March's daughter, Judy Wagner, told the Mercury.
In addition to Wagner, March is survived by other children: Bruce, Sandra and Debbie, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his cat, Taffy, who was discovered in the home three days after the fire, Wagner said.
He was a veteran of the 8th Air Force in World War II, and received the Purple Heart and two battle stars for his service.
