Crash Closes Route 422, Injures 2 [UPDATED]

422 was closed for a four-hour period after a two-vehicle crash that sent two to area hospitals.

Route 422 westbound was closed in Lower Pottsgrove Township Saturday in a crash that injured two people.

Initial Montgomery County reports stated that a child was ejected from the car; a fire official said that was not the case.  According to NBC 10, one driver was flown to West Reading Hospital and another was flown to Pottstown; one of the victims is in critical condition, according to police..

The crash occurred around 11:35 a.m. and a vehicle flipped over, according to the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety; Route 422 westbound was shut down at Sanatoga around 11:45 a.m., and Route 422 eastbound was shut down at Armand Hammer Boulevard.

Eastbound lanes were reopened at 12:10; westbound lanes remained closed until 3:40; the cleanup is still underway as of 4 p.m.
