Fugitive Sought in Fatal Pottstown Shooting Arrested

Daquan Hamilton has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a Dec. 27 Pottstown shooting.

A fugitive sought in a Dec. 27 murder at Kings Street Commons Apartments in Pottstown has been arrested and arraigned, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office and Pottstown Police Chief announced Wednesday.

Daquan Hamilton, 20, was arrested Wednesday in a home on the 5000 block of North 21st Street in Philadelphia by members of the Philadelphia Police Department, Homicide Fugitive Unit, the District Attorney's Office said.

Hamilton was one of two men charged in connection with the Dec. 27 shooting  death of George Hashimbey, 22, at 262 King Street, Pottstown, the District Attorney's Office said. Hashimbey was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man also was shot, and was treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. That man's name has not been released.

Khaleef Jones, 21, is also charged with murder in Hashimbey's death. 

Hamilton was arraigned Wednesday by Magisterial District Judge Kropp and was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail.

Hamilton and Jones will be prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Matthew Quigg and Christopher Daniels.

A preliminary hearing has been set for 8:30 a.m. Jan. 16 in Pottstown.
