Man Strikes Wife with Dog Gate for Spurning Sexual Advances

A Barto man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly struck his wife with a dog gate for refusing to have sex with him.

A Barto man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly struck his wife with a dog gate when she refused to succumb to his sexual advances.

The incident was reported around 11:45 p.m. on December 28, when police from Douglass Township were dispatched to the home for a report of domestic violence. Upon arrival, the victim stated that her husband had entered the bedroom making unwanted advances toward her.

Court records indicate the victim spurned her husband's advances, and attempted to exit the room and head for the basement. The husband then assaulted the victim by striking her with a dog gate, causing a four-inch laceration and significant bruising.

The following day, the husband attempted to apologize to the victim, but when she said she did not accept the apology, the husband began to chase her around the house, prompting the call to police. Upon questioning by police, the husband admitted that there had been physical contact between he and his wife.

The husband is now facing misdemeanor charges of simple assault - attempt, simple assault - attempt by menace, recklessly endangering another person and harassment.
