Philadelphia Man Sentenced For Making False Alarm to Lower Pottsgrove Police

A Philadelphia man was sentenced in the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas to jail time after he pled guilty to the misdemeanor charge of a false alarm to an agency of public safety in connection to an incident where he dishonestly claimed to police that three men took him, hurt him, and left him in Pottstown, according to The Mercury.      

In reality, James Williams Ford, 36, of the 800 block of North Walnut Street n Philadelphia, found himself with a woman who he argued with by a road in Lower Pottsgrove in March of 2012, and he called police and made a false report.

Ford was sentenced to two days that were already served in Montgomery County Correctional Facility to six months.

Judge Kent H. Albright, allowed Ford’s plea agreement in the case. Ford was ordered to undergo a year of probation as well as pay a fine of $100.

After being notified of a call, Lower Pottsgrove police had traveled to East High and Brown streets around 3:20 a.m. on March 20 and they found Ford, who claimed that he had been hit over the head, and whose speech was slurred. According to the criminal complaint, ambulance crews thought that Ford was influenced by drugs.

Per the arrest affidavit, Ford gave police a name that was not his, at first, and allegedly told them that he had taken marijuana.
