Pottstown Middle School Teacher’s Sexual Abuse Charges Withdrawn

The Chester County District Attorney's Office dropped sexual abuse charges against suspended Pottstown Middle School teacher Jared Leimeister.

The attorney representing a Pottstown Middle School teacher who was suspended after being charged with child sexual abuse said that the Chester County District Attorney withdrew the charges Thursday morning, according to The Mercury.

Thirty-three year old Jared Leimeister, of the 800 block of East Schuylkill Road in North Coventry, was charged with several counts of aggravated assault involving a child, stemming from alleged incidents between Leimeister and an 8-year-old girl, from October 2012 to February 2013.

“My client is very grateful to the assistant district attorney and the officers at the North Coventry Police Department, who were willing to listen in order to get more information that would be beneficial to the investigation,” said Leimeister’s attorney, Adam Sager.

The Chester County District Attorney’s Office offered no comment on why the charges were dropped.

Leimeister was charged with indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old, endangering a child’s welfare, and corruption of minors.

It was alleged that, when the girl would go to his apartment, he would force her to sleep in his bed, or force her to sleep in a cardboard box if she did not behave.

Leimeister, who was an eighth-grade science teacher at the middle school, was suspended without pay by the school board in August, starting Aug. 27.

“(The school district) is awaiting official written notification that all charges have been dropped before proceeding. After that, it becomes a personnel matter,” said John Armato, the Pottstown School District community relations director.
