Pottstown Woman's Pizza Box Held More Than Just Pizza, Say Police

A Pottstown police officer responded to a complaint about a woman allegedly knocking on doors and asking for money, and said that he found a pizza box in her possession containing pizza and drug paraphernalia, police say.

A Pottstown police officer dispatched on Aug. 18 to see about a woman allegedly knocking on doors asking for money in Pottstown found more than pizza in the pizza box the woman was carrying, according to a police report.

The officer originally went to the 400 block of North Washington Street around 2:23 a.m. after being alerted of a woman in a red dress allegedly knocking on doors and asking for money. According to the police officer, when he arrived he recognized Pottstown resident Chantelle Jackson sitting on a porch that was not her own, wearing a red and white striped dress and holding a pizza box, say police.

The officer reported that when he asked what she was doing she just stared, according to the report.  She was placed under arrest for allegedly sitting on the porch that was not her own, and for knocking on doors to ask for money, say police.

When the officer returned to the pizza box, he opened it and saw a syringe in plain sight, as well as a piece of pizza, say police. When the officer lifted up the pizza he saw a spoon that contained a clear residue on it, and a piece of cotton in the residue, according to the report.

The homeowner who owned the porch where Jackson had sat appeared from the house and, in conversing with the officer, told him she had not given anyone permission to be on her porch, per the report. 

Jackson told police she had been trying to obtain $20 to pay a debt, police say.

According to court documents, Jackson was charged with of use/possession of drug paraphernalia and loitering and prowling at night time. The loitering and prowling charge was withdrawn, according to court documents.
