Stowe Man Has Preliminary Hearing in Connection with Gunshots Fired in Pottstown

Jarrod Jones Jr., of Stowe, Pennsylvania, garnered over 10 supporters at his preliminary hearing in Pottstown District Court yesterday, where he appeared in relation to gunshots that were allegedly fired in the area of Washington and Beech Streets in June, according to The Mercury.

Jones, 23, of 636 Holly Drive in Stowe, was charged with possessing a prohibited firearm, felony aggravated assault, and a misdemeanor count of simple assault following gunshots fired at a car on the evening of June 25.

Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Nathan Schadler asked that the presiding District Judge Scott T. Palladino add the charge of attempted murder, but the judge did not allow it.

One of the witnesses that Schadler called testified that he saw Jones shoot a gun in the direction of a group of men on the June day in question.

Pottstown Police Detective Heather Long testified that bullet fragments found in a silver Infiniti, as well as bullet casings taken from the scene, had been taken to a lab to be tested.

A formal arraignment is scheduled for Jones on Sept. 25 in the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown, according to official documents.
