With 2013 on it’s way out, we’re taking a look back at the most outrageous, unusual and (occasionally) funny police stories from the area in the past year.

Cops Pose a 15-year-old, Catch Internet Predators:

It was Monday afternoon and Radnor Police Superintendent William Colarulo and Detective T.J. Schreiber were online pretending to be a 15-year-old girl who likes older men.

“Put ‘Yeah with a smiley face’ Colarulo said to Schreiber, who was answering the question of does she like older men.

“Put ‘I’m a little scared right now. Can I trust you?'” he prompted Schreiber to write. Don’t worry, the man replied. He said he would not stalk her.

Judge Bans Woman from Twitter: A Pottstown woman was banned from using Twitter in a ruling back in November. She was told not to use the social media site after she admitted to using the site to stalk a county judge. Read the whole thing onPottstown Patch. 

40lbs of Drug-Laced Candy Sized: More than 40 pounds of drug-laced candy have been seized at an apartment on the West Chester University campus, according to the Chester County District Attorney's office.

The candy laced with THC, the active chemical in marijuana, was found in an apartment at in the 800 block of South New Street on the University's South Campus, according to the Attorney General's office.  The A.G's office did not specify when the drugs were seized and no suspects in the case have been named. Read the full story on West Chester Patch.

Stealing Stone Roosters: Listen, I have a job to keep, so you’re going to have to make your own joke here, but I’m not going to pretend that his story about someone stealing stone garden roosters from a building in Radnor wasn’t one of my favorite stories of the year. 

Shoplifting Leads to a AWOL Arrest Over 10 Years in the Making: Bibi Hassan, 22, of Philadelphia, was an employee at Sears at the Granite Run Mall and was allegedly under ringing merchandise for her husband on four different occasions, according to State Police. 

Hassan's husband Alan Norton, also known as Roosevelt Bethea, 38, of Philadelphia was later found to be wanted by the United States Navy for going AWOL in 1996, according to State Police. The Navy sent State Police discharge papers for Bethea and he was released, according to State Police. Stop Biting Each Other on the Bus, Teens: Two Perkiomen Valley High School students got in trouble in 2013 when a 15-year-old boy allegedly bit a 16-year-old girl on the school bus. Check out PV Patch for the whole story.
