Train Strikes Truck in Pottstown, Say Police

A train hit a pickup truck that had stopped without cleaning the tracks in Pottstown on Wednesday, say police.

A Norfolk Southern train collided with a pickup truck in Pottstown on Monday around 12:14 p.m., according to Pottstown police.

Pottstown police, firefighters, and EMS arrived on scene after a report of the collision at 140 College Drive between the train and a privately-owned pickup truck say police. The impact between the train and the truck happened where the train’s spur converges with a private driveway at 140 College Drive, police say.

The truck, which was driven by Morgan Hawk, of Limerick, was stopped as it waited to exit a lot and go onto College Drive according to police.  t had stopped in a location where it had not cleared the tracks when the train, which was going backward westbound, hit the truck, say police.

The train is thought to have been traveling under 10 mph, according to police. The train suffered little damage and the pickup truck was “disabled,” according to police. No injuries were reported, say police.
