Two Men Charged with Murder in Kings Street Shooting Death

One of the men charged in the Dec. 27 shooting is in custody, but the second is at large, and police ask that anyone with information as to his whereabouts contact authorities.

Two men have been charged with murder in the Dec. 27 shooting at the Kings Street Commons Apartments in Pottstown, the Montgomery County District Attorney and Pottstown Police announced Monday morning. 

Daquan Hamilton, 20, and Khaleef Jones, 21, are charged with murder and related offenses in connection with the Dec. 27 shooting death of George Hashimbey, 22, at 262 King Street, Pottstown, Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman and Pottstown Borough Police Chief F. Richard Drumheller said Monday morning.

Police said that just after midnight on Dec. 27, Hamilton and Jones, each armed with a handgun, forced their way into Apartment 524 of the Kings Street Commons. Police said Hamilton and Jones shot two of the three men who were inside; Hashimbey was pronounced dead at the scene, and the second shooting victim was transported to an area hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. His name has not been released.

Jones currently is in custody in Philadelphia County and will be arraigned on the murder charges in Montgomery County, the District Attorney’s Office said.
