UPDATE: Norristown woman Struck by Car in Pottstown, Police Say

A Norristown woman was struck by a car while walking through Pottstown with her child and boyfriend Tuesday evening, say police.

The mother had been waiting with her boyfriend and her child in a baby carriage to cross at the corner of Shoemaker Road and the southwest corner of Rt. 100 in Pottstown, say Pottstown police.

It was reported that the three tried to cross in an easterly direction while the traffic light was red and a ‘don’t cross’ hand signal was displayed, police say.

The driver, who is reported not to have seen the woman, struck her with the car’s driver’s side fender, say police. The incident took place around 8:40 p.m., according to Philly.com. 

According to police, the woman’s boyfriend and child were in front of the woman as the car hit her, and the two escaped being hit.

EMS responded to the scene and said that the woman’s left foot seemed to be broken, say police. There were no serious injuries, say police.

Police say that the traffic lights and the crosswalk signals were functioning well.

A woman and her child were struck by a vehicle in Pottstown on Tuesday night, philly.com is reporting.

The accident reportedly happened at Route 100 and Shoemaker Road around 8:40 p.m. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, The Inquirer said, and one person was taken to Pottstown Medical Center.
