Woman Arrested After West Pottsgrove Police Chase Ended in Berks County, Say Police

An Earl township woman allegedly used heroin and took to the road, allegedly hitting people and light poles and almost hit a police cruiser, say authorities.

Police arrested an Earl township woman who allegedly used heroin and drove recklessly from West Pottsgrove Township to Berks county on Friday, almost hitting a police cruiser, according to Reading Eagle.

Alysa N. Lightcap, 19, of the 600 block of Mountain Road, was charged with reckless endangerment, driving under the influence of a controlled substance, and intending to use drug paraphernalia.

Lightcap did not post her $2,500 bail and was sent to Berks County Prison after her Friday night arraignment in Reading Central Court in front of District Judge Victor M. Frederick IV.

Per court records, the woman’s alleged almost-collision with a police cruiser occurred around the 400 block of Colebrookdale Road in Douglass township.

Lightcap’s trip began in West Pottsgrove, where it is alleged that she hit pedestrians and light poles in her car on her way towards Berks county, according to Douglass police.

Matthew Stofflet, a West Pottsgrove police officer, drove to Douglass in search of Lightcap, and, as he drove back to the 400 block of Colebrookdale Road, she came into his lane and he had to drive into the road shoulder to avoid being hit, said police.

Stofflet was able to take Lightcap into custody, and Lightcap told him that she had recently used 4 packets of heroin. Police saw four more packets of heroin and a syringe in her purse, say police.
