The driver, a Pottstown woman, was cited after the Saturday accident in Lower Macungie.

A Pottstown woman was injured Saturday morning when the 2004 Dodge Neon in which she was riding went out of control on Route 309 in Lower Macungie Township, struck another car, then hit a guide rail before coming to rest.

State police at Fogelsville said Samantha Joe Sallit, 26, was bleeding from her forehead and had a T-shirt wrapped around her head after the 7:42am crash on southbound Route 309 just before the Interstate 78 split.

She was taken by Cetronia EMS to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, police said.

The Neon's driver, Ian Sallit, 19, also of Pottstown, was not hurt but was cited for violating the "driving at safe speed" law, police said.

According to a police fax, the Neon was in the left lane on southbound Route 309 when it approached a left curve, lost control, entered the right lane and hit the front and rear driver's-side doors of a 2008 Toyota Prius driven by Dianna Madura, 41, of Whitehall.

Madura's car was in the right lane, slightly ahead of the Neon. Madura was not hurt.

The Neon, meanwhile, kept going south, went off the road and struck the guide rail along the right shoulder. It spun counterclockwise before coming to rest facing south on the right shoulder.

The Neon was towed by Faust Towing. The Prius was driveable, police said.
