Woman Struck and Killed in Pottstown Bus Accident

A woman was killed after being struck by a bus Monday morning.

An elderly woman was struck and killed by a bus in Pottstown on Monday morning, according to The Sentinel.

The incident happened on Mervine Street near North Charlotte Street, according to The Mercury.

"Montgomery County First District Attorney Kevin Steele identified the victim as Shirley Wilhelm, 78, of Pottstown, after her family was notified Monday afternoon. She was hit around 7 a.m. and died at the scene," according to The Mercury.

According to The Sentinel, Wilhelm was out for her "daily morning walk when she was hit."

The bus was originally reported as a school bus by The Pottstown Mercury, but according to a report by The Mercury, "Pottstown and Pottsgrove school districts both indicated the bus was not affiliated with their districts."
