Pottstown Discusses Reapplication for Annual Anti-DUI Grant

The Pottstown borough council will vote on the $49k grant application at their next meeting.

The Pottstown borough council discussed an application for 2014 of an annual PennDOT anti-DUI grant that they have been receiving since 1992; for 2014 the amount to be requested is $49k.

The grant, which, according to Pottstown police chief Rick Drumheller, in an email to Patch.com, is a PennDOT DUI Enforcement Grant, will be used to reimburse 10 police departments for their overtime work.

The application will come to a vote at the next meeting.

Pottstown has been applying for the funds since 1992, said Borough Manager Mark Flanders, after the meeting.

According to Drumheller, the $49k amount is slightly less than the amount from last year.
