Pottstown Tenant Listings Due Tomorrow

The borough requires property owners and managers to complete a form that lists tenant information.

 

Tomorrow is the deadline for Pottstown rental property owners or their managers to submit to the borough a completed tenant listing of rental dwelling units form.

The form asks for items such as the owner's name and contact information, full name of tenants and lease terms.

"If you live over (five) miles outside the , you are required to designate an emergency contact person that lives or works within the Borough limits," the form states. "P.O. boxes will not be accepted."

Further, the form requires the property owner to "verify that the information provided on the tenant listing is true and correct to the best of my knowledge, information and belief."

Background

A group of Pottstown residents say negligent "slumlords" are to blame for problems in the borough including decaying properties and tenants who cause trouble.

In August, several borough residents protested "slumlords" on King Street. 

At that time, Teri Jensen-Sellers, who has lived in Pottstown for roughly 10 years, said several residential buildings in the borough are owned by landlords who live in other cities and ignore their rental properties in Pottstown.

“It’s a significant problem … A lot of these properties have criminal activity,” she said of urban blight in the borough. “(Slumlords) are exploiting our community for their own personal gain."

All you have to do is walk into the Pottstown Police station, or call the non-emergency number (which used to be 610-323-1212) and make your report. You should probably have hard copies of everything ready. Given the current political climate in Pottstown (and Montgomery County) with respect to landlords combined with the nationwide backlash against bullying, I have a suspicion that your report might be of interest.

This is why Goldencockroach - Katie - Max, is the biggest bully in Pottstown. She alone feels she has been appointed to identify the slumlords in Pottstown. It is up to her to define a slumlord. Not the Borough leaders, just her. She looks at a home a reports that it is owned by a slumlord. She talks to tenants, who are behind on rent, and they report that the landlord is a slumlord. Katie reports this. Has she ever reported on homes falling apart that are owner occupied? Of course not. She is the pure definition of a bully. Unfortuately for her is that she can be held civilally liable for defamation. She will tell you I am wrong, but I am not wrong. The incorrect information she posts is unbelievable. Because of her pitbull mentality she has lost any sense to do due diligence. She doesn't understand tenants lies are not facts. Peeling paint and other issues are issues in which the Borough gives time to correct. Katie feels that this makes a landlord a slumlord even if it is repaired. Your rush to judgment has not only ruined your quality of life but your financial future is in jeopardy. The landlords remain united and are up for any legal battle the Borough, you or anyone else starts. We are prepared with ample evidence to file numerous civil lawsuits. Wouldn't putting a photo of a home, listing the owners name & address quailify as harassment? Not only the home in question, but the home the landlord lives. No one but Katie finds fault w/ some of these homes, she is a self-appointed tyrant. If the boro doesn't find fault your problem lies w/ them.(word on the street the boro finds you crazy as a bat). If damage would occur at the Campbells or any other home you post, you would be held somewhat accountable. It was windy the last few days & when I drove down you street trash was in your property that I would call sloppy. No trash at my home, if there was I pick it up, even if it blew into my yard. Whose fault is it when trash is in your yard on a windy day? Do something good for Pottstown and direct your energies in a possitive direction. Thank you.

No, it would not qualify as harassment, because all of the information you've mentioned is either in the public record and/or protected by the 1st amendment.
