Rep. Mark Painter Outlines Plans for 2013

Local representative speaks of swearing in, outlook for the future and property taxes.

After 15 years as the Limerick Tax Collector, Mark Painter said he seems a logical choice for someone to represent the Pottstown, Limerick and Pottsgrove areas.

The Representative was sworn in on Jan. 1 and took time during a recent broadcast of "Legislative Journal" to chat about his outlook for the coming years.

Painter was joined by his wife, son and daughter-in-law for the swearing in, and said it was a great experience.

Painter noted that property taxes is one of the state, and his local area's, largest points of concern.

"It's the number one issue in my district, and for 15 years as a tax collector on the front lines, I understand the strain [property taxes] is," he said.

He said he'd like to use a variety of solutions to solve a property tax problem for Pennsylvania.

"I think we need to do something," said Painter of the property tax concerns. "We ned to attack the problem from multiple angles. There isn't going to be one fix. We need to try anything and everything."

Painter also said he welcomed constituents to come to his new office in Sanatoga. The new office is located in Sunnybrook Village, 600 Heritage Dr., in Sanatoga.
