Barbara Guy, who retired in 2011 as principal of West Vincent Elementary School in the Owen J. Roberts School District, is the new principal at Ringing Rocks Elementary School in the Pottsgrove School District.
The Pottstown Mercury reports that Guy's hire was approved by the school district's board on Tuesday night.
Guy succeeds former Ringing Rocks principal Michelle Bozzini, whose sudden departure from the post was announced by the school district on Jan. 9.
The Sanatoga Post reports that the district has yet to explain any of the circumstances surrounding Bozzini's departure.
The Mercury reports that it has filed a Right to Know request with the school district to obtain a copy of Bozzini's separation agreement. The district told the newspaper that its attorneys are considering the request.
The school district declined to disclose Guy's salary or provide a copy of her employment contract, the newspaper reported.
Owen J. Roberts school board meeting minutes indicate that when she was hired by that district in 2004, Guy received an annual salary of $96,677.
According to the National Association of Elementary School Principals, the average salary in 2009 for elementary school principals in a six-state region that includes Pennsylvania was $103,564, about 18 percent higher than the national average.
