Gear Jammers Saloon to Host Benefit for Pottsgrove Alum

Friends of Melissa Oister are planning a benefit to help her out.

Melissa Oister is a fighter - but sometimes even the bravest fighters need a hand.

Oister is currently battling cancer. It started as Stage IV breast cancer but spread to her bones, brain, lungs and liver. Her friend, Sarah Hoffman, says that the 33-year-old has been ill for a few years and her medical bills are staggering.

"Her medicines cost $2000 per month," Hoffman said.

To try to help Oister with her needs, Hoffman and several others are planning a benefit on June 15, 2013 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m at Gear Jammers Saloon in Douglasville.

There will be music from five bands, including Sean Smith & Mike McVey, Thousand Pounds, Divination, and Middle Class Madness. (At press time, the fifth band was still being confirmed.)

There will be a pig roast and plenty of beverages, and a basket raffle with lots of prizes.

Hoffman said over 40 businesses have already donated items for the raffle. Among the donations are restaurant certificates, gift certificates and other items.

Tickets are $20 for the event, which includes food and 3 draft beers.

You can buy tickets online. If you can't attend the event but still want to help out, there is a link to donate via PayPal here
