Man Encounters Drunk, Bloody Intruder Named 'Bill': According to a report in the Lansdale Patch, a homeowner thought a family member had returned home from work when he heard the front door open, but instead it was a drunk, bloodied intruder who said his name was "Bill." The man reportedly had a significant amount of blood on his face, and he fled the scene when the homeowner took out his cell phone to call police. He was not found after he fled the residence. Three men have been charged with first, second and third degree murder as well as a laundry list of other charges in the May 4 abduction and murder of 19-year-old Kareem Borowy. Matthew Royer, who disappeared after leaving the University of Rhode Island en route to his Skippack home, is safe, police say. The Pennsylvania State Police are reporting that Matthew Royer, who vanished on his way home to Skippack from the Univeristy of Rhode Island on Thursday night, has been found, unharmed. Eight people are arrrested in "Operation Weed Whacker'" and authorities seize four firearms, over $700,000 in cash and 400 pounds of high-grade marijuana. A Pottstown woman has been charged with trying to help her son dispose of a weapon following a murder he's accused of committing.
Pottstown police arrested 39-year-old Julia Lillian White on May 14 after an investigation where, police say, she discussed trying to locate a weapon allegedly used by her son, Maurice Andrews, Jr., in a March killing. According to a report in the Pottstown Mercury, authorities recorded jailhouse conversations between White and Andrews where they allegedly discussed locating the weapon, using veiled references to it and to the fact that they were aware they could be recorded while speaking at the jailhouse or on the phone. Andrews and another man, Michael Hinton, of Norristown, is accused of shooting Victor Bonilla-Baez to death on March 22 outside the Brian's Cafe restaurant on Jefferson Avenue. The group is on a 10-day trek to Harrisburg to pressure government leaders into investing in communities, not prisons.
Decarcerate PA, an anti-prison activist group, has organized a 10-day march from Philadelphia to Harrisburg beginning Saturday, and will spend the weekend walking through Norristown and Collegeville to Pottstown, stopping for a protesting to end prison expansions along the way. The 113-mile trek has been labeled the “March for a People’s Budget: Stop the Prison Expansion Now!,” and will begin Saturday at noon with a rally in Love Park. “The march will build pressure on legislators to reject Governor Corbett’s prison expansion projects and invest in communities, not prisons,” said a release from the organization. They did on my previous car, which was a coupe version of my current car, but my car’s first owner didn’t pony up the money for the cold-weather package … so now I’m stuck with a small trunk and no headlamp washers. First world problems, I know. And because my seats don’t fold down, whenever I want to go skiing, or surfing, or just carry a long stick in my vehicle, I’ve got to run to my mother.
