Alleged Killer's Mom Tried to Help Get Rid of Weapon, Police Say

A Pottstown woman has been charged with trying to help her son dispose of a weapon following a murder he's accused of committing.

Pottstown police arrested 39-year-old Julia Lillian White on May 14 after an investigation where, police say, she discussed trying to locate a weapon allegedly used by her son, Maurice Andrews, Jr., in a March killing. According to a report in the Pottstown Mercury, authorities recorded jailhouse conversations between White and Andrews where they allegedly discussed locating the weapon, using veiled references to it and to the fact that they were aware they could be recorded while speaking at the jailhouse or on the phone.  Andrews and another man, Michael Hinton, is accused of shooting Victor Bonilla-Baez to death on March 22 outside the Brian's Cafe restaurant on Jefferson Avenue.  According to the Mercury, court papers show that …

National Drug Ring Shutdown by Montco Law Enforcement, Police Say

Operation 'Weed Whacker' nets eight arrests, four firearms, over $700,000 in cash and 400 pounds of high-grade marijuana

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman has announced eight arrests in connection with Operation "Weed Whacker," which sought to bring down a multimillion-dollar marijuana trafficking ring. According to the press release, the DA's Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) began an investigation in September of 2012 into the trafficking of high-grade marijuana in Whitpain Township. Two months into the investigation, detectives learned that hundreds of pounds of marijuana were being distributed throughout southeastern Pennsylvania by two brothers, identified as Dennis Frederick, 40, of Delaware County, and Jeffrey Frederick, 32, of Philadelphia, the release states. Emergency Responders Stage Car Crash at PJPHS

The pre-prom event involved several crews and some brave drama club members, and emphasized for students the serious consequences of distracted or impaired driving.

Several local first responder departments set up a two-vehicle crash rescue demonstration for students at Pope John Paul II High School Thursday morning. "The whole point was to get them thinking about driving after drinking or not paying attention to the road," said Royersford firefighter Dave Hummel. Hummel said that students from the PJPII Drama Club participated, playing the crash victims, and that Royersford and Trappe Fire Departments, Upper Providence Emergency Services, the Upper Providence Police Department, MidAtlantic MedEvac and Friendship Ambulance all took part. Pottstown Businesses Allegedly Struck by Robber Using Fingers as a Gun

A Royersford man was arrested after he reportedly tried to rob two Pottstown businesses while pretending to have a gun.

A Royersford man was arrested Saturday following two alleged robbery attempts and an alleged purse-snatching in the Pottstown area, Pottstown police said.  Edward Grist, age 22, reportedly led police on a short chase down Route 100 on Saturday after he was pursued from the Upland Square Giant grocery store.  According to an article in the Pottstown Mercury, police said Grist attempted to rob Maninno's Restaurant and Professional Pharmacy, both on North Hanover Street, by pointing his fingers at employees as if it were a gun and demanding money at the restaurant and narcotics at the pharmacy. Naked Woman Arrested for Doing 'Adam and Eve', Police Say

Christyn DiGiorgio, 22, of Norristown, was arrested early Sunday morning, after police observed her naked and on all fours pulling grass from a yard on the 500 block of Main Street.

A Norristown woman was arrested early Sunday morning, after police found her naked and on all fours along the 500 block of West Main Street. Police initially responded to the area at 12:18 a.m. for a report of a woman taking her clothes off. Upon arrival, police encountered 22-year-old Christyn DiGiorgio, of Norristown, who was pulling grass from the yard while naked and on all fours, according to the report. DiGiorgio's only initial response to police was to reportedly look up, grin widely, giggle, and continue to pull grass, police said. Three men have been charged with first, second and third degree murder as well as a laundry list of other charges in the May 4 abduction and murder of 19-year-old Kareem Borowy. Rasheed Teel and Andre Collier of Philadelphia and Charles Freeman of Stowe were charged with first, second, and third degree murder; conspiracy to commit first, second and third degree murder; multiple charges of kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping; weapon possession; terroristic threats; false imprisonment; tampering with evidence; receiving stolen property and robbery charges. New Sighting of Missing Skippack Man's Car Reported

Matthew Royer went missing en route to Skippack from the University of Rhode Island on Thursday; his vehicle was spotted in Lebanon County Friday afternoon.

13-Year-Old Girl Missing from Reading

The teen was last seen in the company of an adult male.

Chester and Montgomery counties have issued alerts for a 13-year-old girl from Reading, who was last seen Wednesday. Destiny Hernandez is described by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as an endangered runaway. Destiny may be in the company of an adult male. She has a scar on her left hand. When Destiny was last seen, she had red and orange highlights in her hair. -according to her missing poster. Hernandez is described as being 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.  Anyone with information should call the Reading Police Department at (610) 655-6116.

Bright Hope Fight Results in Simple Assault, False ID Charges

Pottstown man found guilty of two misdemeanor charges after swinging a broom at a 4-year-old.

A fight with a teen resulted in the arrest and conviction of one Pottstown man. When the fight escallated, police said he even swung a broom stick near a child. Travis Darnell Shaw, 31, of the 400 block of W. King St., was sentenced in Montgomery County Court on Wednesday to four to 23 months along with 50 hours of community service, accoridng to a report in the Pottstown Mercury. Shaw was involved, according to police, in an incident in June 2012 when he sat on the stoop of a 15-year-old girl's home along Myrtle Street in the Bright Hope development.
