Lower Pottsgrove Girl Scouts Ready to Walk for Psoriasis

The annual Philadelphia walk, which is scheduled for Saturday, seeks to raise money to cure psoriasis.

The Lower Pottsgrove Girl Scouts will don their walking shoes on Saturday morning, as they take to Philadelphia to participate in the Walk to Cure Psoriasis. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Philadelphia Zoo, and both the 1K and 5K walks will begin at 9:30 a.m. The event is free for all ages, though a donation will get you a full-day's access to the zoo. WMMR's Preston Elliot will be emceeing the event. As of today, the walk has generated $28,698 for psoriasis, which is slightly more than half of their fundraising goal of $53,000. Elks Lodge to Host Charity Breakfast on April 28

Open to the public, the breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Elks Lodge on High Street.

The Elks Lodge on High Street will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast on Sunday, April 28 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m, with proceeds going to help Pennsylvania Children and Adults with Disabilities. The breakfast will include made-to-order eggs, omelets, home fries, bacon, sausage, scrapple, french toast, pancakes, waffles, cream chipped beef, coffee, tea, juice, milk, and of course, desserts. The cost is $8 for adults, and $4 for children 12 and under. The lodge is located at 61 High Street, Pottstown, PA. G-Riders Host 'Cheers Charity 2013' [PHOTOS]

The G-Riders charitable cycling team kicked off their 2013 fundraising campaign at Penguin's Pub on Saturday night.

The G-Riders charitable cycling team kicked off their 2013 fundraising season with a boom on Saturday night, hosting their annual "Cheers Charity" event at Penguin's Pub in Warminster. All benefits from the fundraiser are donated to various local and national charities, including the Irish Pub Daniel Faulkner Fund, the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, the Indian Creek Foundation and the American Diabetes Foundation. To date, the team has raised over $70,000 for their respective charities. 'Operation Nine Reindeer' Spreads Joy to Royersford Family [PHOTOS]

A Royersford family, whose mother lost her battle with cancer in September, received a special visit from Santa on Saturday night.

With flashing lights bouncing off of Christmas decorations and sirens echoing through the quiet streets of Royersford, a special visitor from the North Pole made a surprise stop on Saturday night to help a local family in need.  Professional Santa Dutch Schrap, who - along with his girlfriend, Jennifer - launched the "Operation Nine Reindeer" charity earlier this year, set his sights on spreading some Christmas cheer to a local father and his three adopted children, after their mother lost her battle with cancer in September. Two Women Captured on Video Stealing from Toys for Tots

The women were captured on surveillance video stealing donations from a Toys for Tots bin outside of Boscov's at the Coventry Mall.

The North Coventry Police Department is looking for help in identifying and locating two women who were captured on surveillance video as they stole items from a Toys for Tots bin outside of Boscov's at the Coventry Mall. Click here to follow us on Facebook According to a report by the Pottstown Mercury, police are searching for two black women believed to be in their late teens or early 20's. One woman is described as being 5 feet 4 inches tall with a slim build, and the other woman is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and heavy set. The report indicates that the women took the items from the Toys for Tots bin around 9:30 p.m. on December 8. Risa Ferman Wins National 'Women of Worth' Honors

As a result of winning the national honor, an additional $25,000 will be donated to Mission Kids, courtesy of L'Oreal Paris.

L'Oreal Paris has announced via Twitter that Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman has been named the 2012 Women of Worth National Honoree for her work as co-founder of Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center. Ferman was one of 10 honorees from across the country vying for the national honor, which came as a result of a voting process from November 5 through November 21. As a result of winning the national honor, an additional $25,000 will be donated to Mission Kids, courtesy of L'Oreal Paris. Patch congratulates DA Ferman on receiving such an honor! 'Operation Nine Reindeer' to Bring Christmas Miracles to Montco

A real-life Santa Claus has taken the initiative to help a pair of struggling Montco families

A pair of struggling Montco families will soon find themselves on the receiving end of a Christmas miracle, thanks to the efforts of 38-year-old Dutch Schrap, of East Coventry, who has decided to take his professional Santa routine to the next level. The son of the elder Santa Schrap, Dutch has followed in his father's snow-covered footsteps for the past 21 years. He's made appearances everywhere from the Lansdale Mardi Gras Parade to gigs with the Philadelphia Flyers and Sixers, and he's even rung the opening bell at the Philadelphia Stock Exchange. This year, however, he's looking to expand on his role by initiating Operation Nine Reindeer, which seeks to aid two families who are in desperate need of support. It all began on October 1, …

Pottstown Walmart Reopens

The expanded store brings 50 new jobs to the area

The newly expanded Walmart on Shoemaker Road officially re-opened its doors Wednesday, following a brief ribbon cutting ceremony at 7 a.m. “We are proud to be expanding during the year that Walmart celebrates the 50th anniversary of its first store opening,” said store manager Richard Alphonso. “We look forward to serving the people of our community, helping save them money so they can live better.” In addition to the typical lines of merchandise, the expanded Walmart now features a full grocery area, complete with produce, bakery and deli departments. Edgewood Elementary School students in Mrs. Marie Ander’s fifth grade class are off to a “WINning” start this year, thanks to a donation of a year’s supply of bookbags and school supplies from the employees of the Limerick Generating Station.
