Accused Fugitive Prostitute Captured in Collegeville

Rachel Page Laird, of Gilbertsville, faces extradition to Arizona on charges of prostitution and related offenses in connection with 'Operation Goddess Temple.'

A Gilbertsville woman is facing extradition to Arizona on charges of prostitution and related offenses, after she was captured by the Pennsylvania State Police during a traffic stop in Collegeville. Rachel Page Laird, of Gilbertsville, was stopped near the intersection of Main Street and First Avenue around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Police then discovered that Laird had a warrant for prostitution-related offenses in Maricopa County, Arizona, with full extradition. According to reports, Laird was one 33 individuals arrested during "Operation Goddess Temple", which took place during the summer of 2011 in Phoenix, Arizona. Fiery Crash on Route 100 Kills One, Injures Another

Devon T. Rosenberger, 26, of Gilbertsville, was pronounced dead at the scene of Tuesday morning's accident on Route 100 in Washington Township.

A Gilbertsville man was killed in a fiery crash Tuesday morning, after his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a pickup truck along Route 100 in Washington Township, Berks County. According to a report in the Reading Eagle, Devon T. Rosenberger, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene, after the initial collision caused his vehicle to burst into flames while he was still trapped inside. The report states that first responders were unable to free Rosenberger from the vehicle, but officials later stated they believed he was killed during the head-on impact. The accident occurred around 6 a.m. on Route 100, between East Chestnut Street and Stauffer Road in Washington Township, according to the Morning Call. …

Gilbertsville Drunk Driver On Phone Causes Crash, Police Say

Kimberly A. Welch, 41, allegedly had a blood-alcohol content greater than .16 at the time of the crash.

A Gilbertsville woman is facing charges of DUI and related summary offenses after she allegedly crashed her vehicle into a utility pole while drunk and talking on her cell phone. Police say that 41-year-old Kimberly A. Welch, of Gilbertsville, had a blood-alcohol content (BAC) greater than .16 at the time of the crash, which is more than twice the legal limit in Pennsylvania. The report states that while Welch was driving westbound on Main Street in Trappe on Jan. 18, she allegedly began to utilize her cell phone,  which caused her to divert attention away from the roadway. 75-Year-Old Hit-and-Run Driver Gets House Arrest

A Gilberstville woman was sentenced to seven years of court supervision for the 2011 hit-and-run death of Kristy Bender.

Patricia Maurer, 75, who was found guilty of the 2011 hit-and-run death of 26-year-old Kristy Bender in June, was sentenced to seven years of court supervision, according to the Philadephia Inquirer. Judge Joseph A. Smyth sentenced Maurer to one year of house arrest, one of parole, and five years of non-reporting probation. She is also required to pay the cost of her four-day jury trial this past spring. The Bender family requested that Maurer, of New Hanover Square Road, not get jail time. Smyth said that he thought not allowing her to drive a car was a "good, practical approach." "We are satisfied," Bender's mother, Kathy, told The Inquirer.  "We never wanted to see her spend time in jail, given her age and medical condition." Maurer was…

I have begun a crusade to have people (of all ages) road tested more than just the ONE time when you initially get your driver's license.
