Rupert Hosts Math 24 Competition

The competition involves students having to use various math strategies to calculate the answers of the quiz questions.

Armato: For students in Pottstown School District’s elementary schools, the Math 24 Competition is one of the highlights of the year.  Rupert Elementary School Principal Matt Moyer and staff hosted the competition, which included teams of third, fourth and fifth graders from each of the district’s five elementary buildings.  The competition involves students that use various math strategies to calculate answers to quiz questions.  The event is attended by many parents who while enjoying watching the event politely decline the opportunity to try to solve the mathematical problems without the benefit of a calculator, pencil, or paper.  Assisting the teachers in the …

Rupert Student Takes Second In Mid-Atlantic Dairy Contest

Umar Annable was one of 130 finalists from 20 school districts representing 47 schools.

Armato: Rupert Elementary School first grade student Umar Annable recently was recognized as the second-place award winner in the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association Poster Contest.  The contest was open to students from Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and Maryland.  Umar became one of 130 finalists from 20 school districts representing 47 different schools.  His poster picture, along with other finalists’, will be incorporated into the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association’s calendar for the 2013 year.  Replicas of posters will also be used at various schools to help promote the value of drinking milk. Rupert Elementary Students And Staff Stay Fit

The school took part in a year-long nutrition and healthy lifestyles program.

Armato: Students at Rupert Elementary School recently were visited by representatives from the Camden Riversharks baseball team at an assembly sponsored by AmeriHealth.  The “Line Drives for Healthy Lives” program is designed to bring a higher level of awareness of child health and wellness issues. The unique assembly program provides students the opportunity to learn key facts in keeping a healthier lifestyle and staying active.   Rivershark mascots “Finley” and “Blooper” led the students through a fun and interactive presentation which is informative and physically challenging.  Riversharks’ General Manager Adam Lorber explains the purpose for the Riversharks …

Rupert Students Recognized For Good Achievement

Armato: The recent bad weather could not keep the Rupert Elementary School I’MPACT Team, which stands for I’m Pottstown Action Team, from taking to the road to recognize outstanding achievement by Rupert students.  The I’MPACT Team, headed by Principal Matt Moyer, celebrates and recognizes students’ positive work ethic, good citizenship, and academic achievement.  The I’MPACT Team makes home visits to award winners and present them with certificates, balloons, and the newly designed I’MPACT tee-shirt.   “I am extremely proud of our students who have recognized the road to success is paved by a solid work ethic, academic achievement and citizenship," Moyer said. Rupert Elementary Participates In Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the U.S.

Armato: Rupert Elementary School students and staff recently participated in the annual Red Ribbon Week, which is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the U.S.  Red Ribbon Week helps communities commit to a drug-free life for the hopes and dreams of children. Rupert Principal Matt Moyer and the teaching staff organized a weeklong series of events starting with a Red Ribbon Week kickoff where students were given a sticker -- to promote the drug-free effort -- and time to sign the school’s pledge to be drug-free.  On the second day of Red Ribbon Week, students were encouraged to wear red accessories including jewelry, hats, scarves, ties and socks with …
