Members of the Montgomery County Detectives have apprehended 19-year-old Maurice Andrews Jr., of Pottstown, who is accused of fatally shooting a man outside of a Pottstown bar last month. Assistant District Attorney Nathan Schadler confirmed the arrest in a report by the Pottstown Mercury, but stated that he could not comment on the circumstances of the arrest due to the sensitive nature of the case. Schadler also praised the law enforcement community for their non-stop efforts during the month-long manhunt. One of the alleged shooters is in custody, while the second continues to elude capture.
Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Ferman has just announced the filing of murder charges against two men in connection with the fatal shooting of Victor Bonilla-Baez outside of Brian's Cafe on March 22. According to the release, Michael Hinton, along with his cousin, Maurice Andrews Jr., of Pottstown, are both charged with first, second, and third-degree murder and related offenses in connection with the shooting. Hinton has been in custody since March 22, but police have been unable to locate Andrews. Police responded to a report of a shooting outside of Brian's Cafe at 2:17 a.m. on March 22, where they discovered Bonilla-Baez lying on the street with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. A Pottstown man is facing felony weapons charges after he allegedly fired three shots outside of a home on the 400 block of South Street on Saint Patrick's Day. Aurice Andre Andrews has been charged with possession of a firearm prohibited, receiving stolen property, firearms not to be carried without a license and resisting arrest, in connection with the March 17 incident, police said. Police initially responded to the 400 block of South Street at 4:29 a.m. for a report of multiple shots fired. Police say Victor Bonilla-Baez, 27, was in possession of marijuana when arrested at Brian's Cafe earlier this month. A published report identified 27-year-old Victor Bonilla-Baev as the victim in Friday morning's shooting outside the same bar.
A man who was killed in a shooting outside a Pottstown bar in the pre-dawn hours on Friday may have been arrested on drug charges behind that same bar earlier this month, according to Pottstown Police reports. Victor Bonilla-Baez, 27, was one of two people arrested on March 11 after police were informed that there were people smoking marijuana behind Brian's Cafe at 354 N. Charlotte St. The victim in Friday's shooting was identified in a Pottstown Mercury report as Victor Bonilla-Baev, 27. According to a criminal complaint filed by Pottstown Police Officer Todd Istenes, police went to the rear of the business and found both Bonilla-Baez and Angela Faison, 41, of Spring City. A 27-year-old man was shot and killed outside of Brian's Cafe on Jefferson Avenue early Friday morning.
An early-morning shooting outside of Brian's Cafe on Jefferson Avenue has claimed the life of an unidentified 27-year-old man. According to a release from the Montgomery County District Attorney's office, the shooting occurred at 2:17 a.m. along the 300 block of Jefferson Avenue. Upon arrival, police discovered a 27-year-old male victim with gunshot wounds. The victim was transported by Goodwill Ambulance to Pottstown Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The victim's name is being withheld pending family notification. According to a source in the law enforcement community, a second shooting victim was later discovered in Lesher Alley shortly before 8 a.m. Friday morning. Students told faculty they had seen an armed man in a ski mask.
A man who was out jogging is believed to have been the cause of a lockdown at West Broad Street Elementary School in Franconia on Thursday afternoon, police said. The school was placed on lockdown at about 1:40 p.m. after three fourth-grade students on the school's playground reported seeing a man in a black sweater and black-hooded mask with a gun along a nearby tree line. Franconia Township Police Chief Joseph Kozeniewski said authorities were "confident" that the children had mistaken the unidentified jogger for the armed person. Police say 24-year-old Paul Brown was found shot in his car in an alley in Norristown on Christmas night.
Authorities have identified the victim in the fatal Christmas night shooting in Norristown as 24-year-old local man Paul Brown. Friends and loved one's mourned his loss publicly via social media following the news of the killing Tuesday night, Dec. 25. According to the Norristown Police Department, police were dispatched to the alley behind 120 Wayne Ave. in Norristown at 4:41 p.m. for a report of a shooting. On the scene, they discovered Brown sitting in the driver's seat of his 1997 Buick Sedan with multiple gunshot wounds. Police say a 24-year-old man is dead after being shot in an alley in Norristown on Christmas night.
Norristown Police responded to the area of West Scott Alley and Park Alley at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Christmas night, Tuesday, Dec. 25, for a report of a shooting and are now investigating a homicide. According to authorities, a 24-year-old unidentified local man has been pronounced dead from multiple gunshot wounds. There is no suspect and police are investigating the crime in collaboration with Montgomery County Detectives.
