Jessica Weiss, of Pottstown, Pa., has been named a Student Ambassador at Alvernia University for the 2012-13 academic year, according to Alvernia media contact Carey Manzolillo. Weiss is a Nursing major at Alvernia and a graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School. "The Student Ambassadors Program was founded to educate prospective students and their parents about Alvernia University, from both the academic and social perspectives," said Manzolilo. Devon T. Rosenberger, 26, of Gilbertsville, was pronounced dead at the scene of Tuesday morning's accident on Route 100 in Washington Township.
A Gilbertsville man was killed in a fiery crash Tuesday morning, after his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a pickup truck along Route 100 in Washington Township, Berks County. According to a report in the Reading Eagle, Devon T. Rosenberger, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene, after the initial collision caused his vehicle to burst into flames while he was still trapped inside. The report states that first responders were unable to free Rosenberger from the vehicle, but officials later stated they believed he was killed during the head-on impact. The accident occurred around 6 a.m. on Route 100, between East Chestnut Street and Stauffer Road in Washington Township, according to the Morning Call. …

Joseph T. Lombardo, 59, of Reading, is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a 48-year-old mentally disabled woman over a period of two years.
A Reading man is in custody after police say he repeatedly raped a 48-year-old mentally disabled woman over the course of two years. According to the Pottstown Mercury, Joseph T. Lombardo, 59, is charged with rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault and indecent exposure, in connection with the alleged repeated abuse of a Sinking Spring woman beginning in 2009 and ending in 2011. Lombardo, who owns a transporation company for the mentally disabled called Life Coach Companion, initially came into contact with the victim when he was hired to transport the woman to the Special Olympics in 2009.
