Devon T. Rosenberger, 26, of Gilbertsville, was pronounced dead at the scene of Tuesday morning's accident on Route 100 in Washington Township.
A Gilbertsville man was killed in a fiery crash Tuesday morning, after his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a pickup truck along Route 100 in Washington Township, Berks County. According to a report in the Reading Eagle, Devon T. Rosenberger, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene, after the initial collision caused his vehicle to burst into flames while he was still trapped inside. The report states that first responders were unable to free Rosenberger from the vehicle, but officials later stated they believed he was killed during the head-on impact. Construction on the bridge over the Schuylkill River is on schedule and entering the final phase.
For Pottstown-area motorists, the end is near for the headache that is the Route 100 bridge work. According to the Pottstown Mercury, PennDOT says the construction has remained on schedule and is entering the final phase and could be complete as early as early to mid-August. All that remains to be done is the rebuilding of 820 feet of concrete median and repaving of roads approaching the bridge.
