Pottstowns quality of life and crime stats have a direct relationship to absentee rental property owners, their tenants and their negligence.  The Golden Cockroach blog focuses attention to the specific details of individual slumlords in much the same way as "Landlord Hall of Shame",  found throughtout the nation and most noteably, in Allentown.

Inspiration for the blog came from a seminar where Mayor Ed Pawlowski was a guest speaker.  He spoke about his successes since founding the Hall of Shame. My many attempts to establish communications with slumlords, near my own home, have been futile.  I've been threatened with harassment lawsuits, I've been yelled at, cursed and hung-up on leading to the conculsion that any effort at working together to resolve issues with their tenants/properties are not on their list of top priorities. 

The blog has served, since Oct. 2011, to inform the residents of Pottstown as well as the irresponsible property owners, thier communities and families that the taxpayer/residents of Pottstown are aware of their misdeeds in our community.  It has evolved into a resource for renters and homeowners to check the credentials of a rental owner, learning tools with links to various laws, ordinances and court cases.
